Why it matters
Kala is one of the largest ukulele makers, and its range runs from inexpensive laminates to higher-end instruments. The all-solid mahogany tenor sits in the middle: solid timber and a satin finish without the price of a custom build. It suits players who have outgrown a first ukulele but do not want to spend custom money.
Note
Solid mahogany tenor from the Kala line between the cheap laminates and the elite Hawaiian instruments.
Specifications
- Scale length: 431.8 mm (17 in)
- Neck shape: unknown
Before you buy
- The model code refers to solid mahogany, and similar codes exist with different woods
- Solid wood needs more care around humidity than a laminate
- Tenor size suits chord melody and lead more than simple strumming
