Alnico is not a personality.
Magnet grade describes strength. Everything else is the wind.
Alnico 5 is stronger than Alnico 2. That is the whole of the claim. Strength affects output and the shape of the resonant peak; it does not carry a mood, a decade, or a genre.
Most of what players describe as magnet character is the wind count and the wire gauge that usually ships alongside it. Swap the magnet and keep the coil, and the change is real but smaller than the vocabulary suggests.
Test it properly: one guitar, one position, two pickups that differ only in magnet. Most comparisons people run change three things at once and credit the magnet.
