The Les Paul Junior is the single-pickup, slab-body version of the Les Paul, for players who want one sound done with nothing in the way.

Why it matters
Gibson introduced the Junior in 1954 as a student model, and it ended up in the hands of punk and blues players who valued its directness over its flexibility. One pickup and two controls leave nowhere to hide, which is either the whole point or a deal-breaker depending on the player. It sits below the Standard and Custom lines on price, making it one of the more affordable routes into a US-made Gibson.
