Why it matters
For a long stretch the Dot was the semi-hollow most players could actually afford, and used examples still appear in large numbers. Epiphone's current equivalent carries the ES-335 name instead, which means anyone shopping for a Dot today is buying secondhand and judging condition rather than specification. That makes it a used-market purchase rather than a new-guitar decision.
Note
The affordable 335; block inlay "dot" marker heritage.
Specifications
- Scale length: unknown
- Neck shape: SlimTaper “D”
Before you buy
- Production moved and specifications changed over the years, so identify the example before pricing it
- Older semi-hollows often need fretwork and electronics attention
- Check binding, frets and the wiring harness, which are the usual wear points
