IK Multimedia's flagship amp-and-effects modeller plugin, and the paid entry point into the TONEX ecosystem.
Watch
Your Guitar Academy's Sweet Child O Mine clip and Robert Renman's blues tone update both run stock AmpliTube 5 rigs, while The Studio Rats' video puts the plugin through a comparison of amp sims.
Why it matters
The standard licence includes 183 gear models, and the VIR cabinet engine plus a custom IR loader covers the parts of the chain most modellers leave fixed. A permanently free CS tier runs the same engine, so you can test the platform before paying, and MAX v2 widens the bundle to 430+ models across 18 brand and artist collections. It also integrates with TONEX, so captures and modelled amps sit in one rig.
Note
AmpliTube 5 remains IK Multimedia's flagship amp-and-effects modeller and the entry point to the TONEX ecosystem. In 2026 IK refreshed the MAX edition as MAX v2 and ran an AmpliTube 5 MAX v2 promotion at $99.99; the standard AmpliTube 5 licence is listed at $199.99.
