Hagstrom's Swede and Super Swede are the Swedish brand's single-cut models, split mainly by scale length.
Watch
Why it matters
The Swede is the shorter of the two and the Super Swede stretches the scale out, which changes string tension and where the fretting hand sits on the neck. Both are associated with a thick, warm voice and a slim neck, and both undercut the equivalent American single-cuts by a wide margin. Super Swede models land around $939 at large European retailers that ship to the United States.
Note
The Scandinavian Les Paul — thick tone, thin neck.
Specifications
- Scale length: 647.7 mm (25.5 in)
- Neck shape: unknown
Before you buy
- Scale length differs between the two models, so do not assume one feels like the other
- Imported stock may arrive without a case, which is worth budgeting for
- Resale is thinner than for the major American brands
