Momose is a hand-built Japanese electric brand from the Deviser group's workshop in Matsumoto, working in vintage-modern shapes at small volumes.

Why it matters

Japanese domestic builders such as Momose sit between factory production and one-person lutherie, with hand finishing at volumes far below the major brands. That shows in detail work and consistency, and it also means instruments are mostly sold through Japanese dealers rather than global retail. Buyers outside Japan have to plan for shipping, duties and a long service distance.

Note

Osaka-built precision vintage-moderns.

Before you buy

  • Most stock ships from Japan, so import charges apply
  • Finish and spec options change with each production run
  • Warranty support is harder to arrange from overseas
