Why it matters
Tokai produced these as close copies at a time when the originals were expensive and inconsistent, and early examples became collectable in their own right. Springy Sound covers the S-type, Breezy Sound the T-type, and Goldstar Sound the later S-type line that arrived in 1982. The ranges ran for years with running changes, so the model code on the instrument says more about what it actually is than the name on the headstock.
Note
The Strat and Tele replicas (Goldstar from 1982).

Before you buy
- Ask for the model code and internal markings, since the badge alone says little about specification
- Electronics and hardware were changed over the years, and originality affects value
- Original pickups and switches are frequently swapped, so check before paying a collector price
