The Rickenbacker 360 is a deluxe semi-hollow electric offered as a six-string and as the 360/12 with twelve strings on a narrow neck.
Watch
Why it matters
The 360/12's paired strings and slim neck produced a sound that shaped 1960s pop and the jangle that followed, and it remains the reference point for twelve-string electrics. The six-string 360 shares the bound body and inlaid neck but behaves like a conventional semi-hollow. Both are built in the USA in limited numbers, so waiting lists are normal.
Note
Bound deluxe 6- and 12-string; the 12 defined A Hard Day's Night and Byrds jangle.

Before you buy
- Twelve-string versions demand a lighter touch and a different technique
- Stereo wiring options need the right lead and amplifier setup
- A 360/12 setup is fiddly, so buy where service is available
