Epiphone's versions of three Gibson acoustic shapes, with Fishman electronics on the electric models.

Why it matters
These are the affordable route to the square-shoulder and round-shoulder Gibson acoustics, and Epiphone has kept the shapes and styling close to the originals. The Hummingbird and Dove use the square-shoulder body, while the J-45 EC takes the round-shoulder shape with a cutaway and pickup. They compete with the all-solid imports rather than with the US-built Gibsons.
Note
Budget versions of Gibson square-shoulder and round-shoulder classics with Fishman electronics.
Specifications
- Scale length: 628.65 mm (24.75 in); Dove 647.7 mm (25.5 in)
- Neck shape: Rounded C
Before you buy
- Prices differ a lot between the three, so the name on the headstock is not the whole story
- Solid tops appear on some versions and not others
- The Dove uses the longer scale, which feels different to play
