Epiphone's Firebird puts the reverse-body, neck-through shape into an affordable production guitar.

Why it matters
The Firebird shape never became a mass-market staple, so cheap versions have always been scarce, and the reverse body with its neck-through construction is part of why. Epiphone's Inspired by Gibson Firebird lists at $799, which is the practical route into that layout without paying Custom Shop money. It is a long instrument that hangs differently from a Les Paul, and that is the design working as intended.
Note
Budget Firebird with P-90s or mini-humbuckers.
Specifications
- Scale length: 628.6 mm (24.75 in)
- Neck shape: Slim Ta
Before you buy
- Reverse-body guitars balance differently on a strap, so try one standing up
- Neck-through construction makes a headstock break a more involved repair
- Check which Firebird version is being sold, since the range covers several trim levels
