The Verythin is Höfner's thin semi-acoustic, a design descended from the 1960 Verithin, which used a 1.25-inch body depth.

Why it matters

Höfner sells through its own European shop with a public price list, and the Verythin range runs across standard, single-cutaway and CT versions. The shallow body was designed for beat groups who needed a light instrument on stage, a different brief from the jazz boxes the shape resembles. Distribution is concentrated in Europe, so buyers elsewhere deal with shipping and duty.

“The decision to buy this Hofner Verythin involved no conscious thought at all and while we already knew it was cool, discovering that Joe Strummer played one made the playing demos even more enjoyable.”
