The Player II series is Fender's made-in-Mexico core line, the tier aimed at players who want a genuine Fender without American-made or Custom Shop pricing.

Why it matters
Player II replaced the Player series and covers the familiar shapes in a wide spread of finishes, priced well below the American Professional II tier. This is where most first serious Fender purchases land, and secondhand supply is deep enough that patience usually pays. Compared with the American line, the differences sit in hardware and finish detail rather than in the basic layout of the guitars.
Note
Made-in-Mexico core line, refreshed in 2024 with updated pickups and finishes; the best-value "real Fender" tier.
Specifications
- Scale length: unknown
- Neck shape: Modern C ####
Before you buy
- Hardware and finish are the main differences from the American-made tier
- Limited editions and colour runs appear and disappear, so timing shapes the choice
- Inspect the setup and fret ends in person wherever possible
