Why it matters
The Telecaster set the template for the mass-produced solidbody, and Fender sells it at every level from Squier to Custom Shop. The American Professional II is the current US production model, listed at $1,839.99 on Fender's site. A fixed bridge and two pickups keep it the least complicated instrument the company builds.
Note
The first mass-produced solidbody electric (as Broadcaster/Nocaster then Telecaster). Two-pickup workhorse famous for its bright "twang" and simplicity.
Specifications
- Scale length: 648 mm (25.5 in)
- Neck shape: Modern "C"
Before you buy
- US, Mexican and Squier builds sit in different price tiers
- Neck profiles differ between series and years
- The bridge plate and pickups decide most of the sound
